An efficient calculation of the effect of mutations in proteins
In a recent article published on J. Chem. Phys. the group of Guido Tiana at CC&B shows that it is possible to exploit evolutionary information within a simple physical model to calculate the energy impact of mutations in proteins. The group has also developed a server [http://merlino.mi.infn.it/cocaine/] that can provide the change of free energy induced by mutations in proteins whose structure is known.
