American Physical Society Fellows
Stefano Zapperi the CC&B coordinator was elected Fellow of the American Physical Society
for "key contributions to the understanding of statistical properties of crackling noise in materials,
including the theory of the Barkhausen effects in ferromagnets and the understanding of dislocation
avalanches in microplasticity”.
Fellowship is a distinct honor signifying recognition by one's professional peers. The criterion for election is exceptional
contributions to the physics enterprise and is restricted every year only to 0.5% of the over 50000
worldwide members of the American Physical Society.
